Empower Network CEO David Wood reports 12,594 new sign up for March 2013 and close to 40,000 new customers and affiliates for the period December 2012 up to March 2013.

The Empower Network convention in Chicago on 19 – 21 April is expected to draw 6,000 affiliates from all over the world.

In the fist 10 days of April 2013, more then 6,300 customer and affiliates started blogging on the Empower Network platform.

USANA – Q1 2013 Sales $169 Million Up 9.7%

USANA Health Sciences, Inc. (NYSE: USNA) today announced record financial results for its fiscal first quarter ended March 30, 2013.

Financial Performance

Net sales for the first quarter of 2013 increased by 9.7% to $169.1 million, compared with $154.1 million in the prior-year period. This growth in net sales was driven by increases in both the Companys Asia Pacific and North America/Europe regions. Favorable changes in currency exchange rates also contributed approximately $900,000 to the top line for the quarter.

Net earnings for the first quarter increased to $17.8 million, an improvement of 29.3%, compared with the prior-year period. This increase was due primarily to higher net sales and lower relative Associate incentive expense for the quarter. The relative decrease in Associate incentives expense was attributable to the change to the lifetime matching bonus program, which is now fully implemented.

Earnings per share for the quarter increased by 42.2% to $1.28, compared with $0.90 in the first quarter of the prior year. This improvement in earnings per share was attributable to higher net earnings and a lower number of diluted shares outstanding, which resulted from the Companys share repurchases over the last 12 months. Total diluted common shares outstanding as of March 30, 2013 were 13.9 million, compared with 15.3 million as of March 31, 2012.

The Companys Chief Executive Officer, Dave Wentz, said, For the first quarter of 2013 USANA again delivered record results in sales and earnings per share. During the quarter, our management team continued to execute our strategic initiatives, which are focused on generating worldwide customer growth, growing our Greater China region, advancing our personalization initiatives, and driving new market expansion.

Regional Results

Net sales in Asia Pacific increased by 9.9% to $104.9 million, compared with $95.5 million for the first quarter of the prior year. This improvement was due to strong sales growth in our Greater China and Southeast Asia Pacific regions, which was driven by a 6.3% increase in the number of active Associates in Asia Pacific.

We continue to see solid growth in Asia Pacific, with double-digit local currency growth in several of our markets in that region, continued Mr. Wentz. We remain focused on growing our Greater China region, and are pleased to have received during the quarter government approval in mainland China to expand our direct selling activities in three additional provinces. We continue to be optimistic about our growth opportunity in this region, as we expand our customer base and the reach of our world-class products.

During the first quarter of 2013, net sales in North America/Europe increased by 9.4% to $64.2 million, compared with $58.6 million in the prior-year period. The number of Active Associates in North America/Europe increased 1.3% and the number of Preferred Customers increased 3.8% during the first quarter, compared with the first quarter of 2012.

Mr. Wentz added, We continue to see improvement in our operating trends in North America, particularly in our top-line results. During the quarter, we saw double-digit sales growth in the U.S. and Mexico, as well as strong Associate growth in Mexico. Our focus continues to be on increasing active Associate counts in the U.S. and Canada, and we have several initiatives planned during 2013 to accomplish this objective. We are also excited to announce the addition of Colombia to this region, which we expect to open in the third quarter of 2013. We believe Colombia will be a successful market for USANA and an excellent entry point into South America.

The Company maintained its successful track record of generating meaningful levels of cash from operations and ended the quarter with $71 million in cash and cash equivalents. For the first quarter, cash generated from operations totaled $20.3 million. During the quarter, the Company invested $18.1 million to repurchase 414,000 shares of the Companys common stock.

4Life executives recently returned from Mexico City where they participated in an International Networkers Team (INT) Convention at The National Auditorium. The INT’s event, Building the Future, attracted more than 9,000 team leaders from dozens of countries around the world.

The meeting included general sessions, leadership seminars, recognition, training, and motivation. INT Platinum International Diamonds Dr. Herminio Nevárez and Yadira Olivo, Juan Rosado and Damaris Zapata, and Ángel Molina and Ivelisse López rallied INT attendees throughout the meetings. Numerous global corporate employees were onsite to support with company updates, video, and social media.

Rippln Compensation Plan:

Coaching Bonuses

Rippln affiliates can earn a domestic and global coaching bonus every time one of their directly recruited affiliates upgrade or qualify to either Domestic or Global affiliate status.

The Coaching Bonus is paid out using a perpetual 1-up compensation plan structure up to 10 recruited affiliates, and one in every 5 after that. Rippln affiliates keep the Coaching Bonus earned on the odd-numbered affiliates they recruit, within their first 10 recruited affiliates.

Every second recruited affiliate is paid to their upline.

After the first ten recruited affiliates every 5th recruited affiliate that generates Coaching Bonus by upgrading or qualifying for Domestic or Global affiliate status is then passed up.

Most likely the Domestic Affiliate Coaching Bonus is $80 and the Global Affiliate Coaching Bonus is $240.

Matching Coaching Bonus

For every odd recruited affiliate who upgrades or qualifies as a Domestic or Global affiliate, Rippln pay out a 25% matching bonus on their Coaching Bonus earnings. For every even recruited affiliate, the Matching Coaching Bonus is a 50% match.

Herbalife Ltd. Sales Up 13% To $1.1 Billion

Herbalife Ltd. (NYSE: HLF) today reported first quarter net sales of $1.1 billion, reflecting an increase of 17 percent compared to the same time period in 2012 on volume point growth of 13 percent.

Adjusted1 net income for the quarter of $137.4 million, or $1.27 per diluted share, compares to 2012 first quarter net income of $108.2 million and EPS of $0.88, respectively. On a reported basis, first quarter 2013 EPS of $1.10 increased 25 percent compared to the $0.88 reported in the comparable quarter last year.

"We continue to deliver record results in sales and profitability as our independent distributors successfully execute numerous growth strategies that enable deeper market penetration, developing customers using our weight management and targeted nutrition products every day," said Michael O. Johnson, Herbalife's chairman and CEO.

"Obesity and poor nutrition are global public health problems. Our distributors are proud to be part of the solution."

For the quarter ended March 31, 2013 the company generated cash flow from operations of $137.6 million, an increase of 14 percent compared to 2012; paid dividends of $30.9 million; invested $24.9 million in capital expenditures; and repurchased $162.4 million in common shares outstanding under our share repurchase program.

Updated 2013 Guidance

Guidance for fully diluted 2013 EPS is based on the average daily exchange rates of the first two weeks of April 2013. Our 2013 guidance continues to assume a Venezuelan exchange rate of 10 to 1 and excludes any potential impact from a future devaluation of the bolivar or the repatriation of existing cash balances in Venezuela. Guidance for the year also excludes $9.5 million of expenses recognized in the first quarter, mostly legal and advisory services, relating to the Company's response to information put into the marketplace by a short seller which information the Company believes to be inaccurate and misleading.

Announces Quarterly Dividend

The company reported today that its board of directors has approved a dividend of $0.30 per share to shareholders of record May 14, 2013, payable on May 28, 2013.

Share Repurchase Program Update

During the first quarter, the company repurchased 4.0 million shares at an average cost of $40.61. There is currently $787.6 million remaining on the existing $1 billion share repurchase authorization.

Nu Skin Sales Up 19% To $550 Million For Q1 – 2013

Nu Skin Enterprises, Inc. (NYSE: NUS) today announced record first-quarter results with revenue of $550.1 million, a 19 percent improvement over the prior-year period.

Revenue was negatively impacted 3 percent by foreign currency fluctuations. Earnings per share for the quarter were $0.90, a 22 percent year-over-year improvement. Additionally, the company announced that it is increasing its full-year 2013 revenue guidance by $190 million to be in the $2.51 to $2.54 billion range.

The new guidance includes a projected negative currency impact of 5 percent. The company now expects 2013 earnings to be in the range of $4.18 to $4.30 per share.

"We kicked off the year with tremendous momentum, generating 22 percent local-currency revenue growth this quarter," said Truman Hunt, president and chief executive officer. "We are pleased with the overall direction of the business, particularly with trends in the North Asia and Greater China regions.

The first quarter marked the third consecutive quarter of year-over-year local-currency growth for Japan, while South Korea continues to be a solid contributor to our success. Greater China continues to be our fastest-growing region, with each market within the region posting solid quarterly growth."

Regional Results

North Asia. First-quarter revenue in North Asia was $188.2 million, compared to $182.2 million for the same period in 2012. The region's results were negatively impacted 8 percent by foreign currency fluctuations. Japan local-currency revenue improved 13 percent while South Korea generated local-currency revenue growth of 9 percent. The number of sales leaders in the region was up 12 percent while the number of actives improved 8 percent.

Greater China. In Greater China, first-quarter revenue increased 90 percent to $175.7 million, compared to $92.6 million in the prior-year period. The region's results were positively impacted 2 percent by foreign currency fluctuations. Mainland China local-currency revenue grew 141 percent. The sales leader count in the region improved 91 percent, while the number of actives increased 73 percent compared to the prior year.

Americas. Revenue in the Americas improved 15 percent to $76.5 million, compared to $66.3 million in the prior-year period. The region's results were negatively impacted 3 percent by foreign currency fluctuations. U.S. revenue grew by 7 percent during the quarter. The number of sales leaders in the region improved 9 percent while the number of actives decreased 4 percent compared to the prior year.

South Asia/Pacific. Revenue in South Asia/Pacific was $67.2 million, a 13 percent decline compared to the prior year. Excluding the prior-year's product launch sales, revenue would have been up 8 percent. The region's results were not materially impacted by foreign currency fluctuations. The region's first-quarter sales leaders improved 9 percent while actives increased 8 percent compared to the same period in 2012.

EMEA. Revenue in the EMEA region was $42.4 million, a 3 percent decline over the prior-year period. The region's results were not materially impacted by foreign currency fluctuations. Sales leaders and actives increased 1 and 5 percent, respectively, compared to the prior year.

Operational Performance

The company's operating margin was 15.0 percent for the quarter, compared to 15.5 percent in the prior year. The decrease in operating margin was primarily a result of planned brand-building efforts in Greater China and Japan as well as increased research and development expenditures. The company projects an operating margin of 15.8 to 16.1 percent for the year. Gross margin during the quarter was 83.6 percent, consistent with the prior year. Selling expenses, as a percent of revenue, were 44.0 percent in the first quarter, compared to 43.8 percent in the prior-year period. General and administrative expenses, as a percent of revenue, were 24.6 percent, up slightly from 24.3 percent reported in the prior-year period. Other income (expense), net reflected a gain of $0.1 million compared to a gain of $3.6 million in the prior year.  

The company's income tax rate for the quarter was 34.4 percent compared to 36.5 percent in the prior-year period. The company's cash and short-term investment position at the end of the quarter was $334.3 million. Dividend payments during the quarter were $17.5 million, and the company repurchased $14.6 million of its outstanding shares.

Outlook

"Given the positive momentum of the business, we are on track to achieve another record year of revenue and earnings," said Hunt. "Our anti-aging product portfolio continues to drive strong consumer demand and impressive growth in our global sales force.

"The ageLOC product platform has become a game-changer for Nu Skin, and we believe this fall's introduction of the ageLOC weight management system will be a meaningful growth driver in our business. We are currently training and preparing our sales force for the limited-time-offer in the second half of the year, and believe the launch will be the largest in company history," Hunt concluded.

"Given the strength of our business, as well as the optimism we have for the upcoming ageLOC weight management system, we are significantly raising our 2013 guidance," said Ritch Wood, chief financial officer. "Our increased guidance accounts for a stronger-than-expected currency headwind, which we now forecast will negatively impact revenue for the year by approximately 5 percent, an increase of 1 to 2 percent from our previous guidance. We project second-quarter 2013 revenue to be in the $570 to $580 million range with a negative currency impact of 4 to 5 percent, and earnings per share to be $0.91 to $0.95.  For the full year, we anticipate revenue will be in the $2.51 to $2.54 billion range with earnings per share to be $4.18 to $4.30."

Go Fun Places Shut Down

As of May 1, 2013 Go Fun Places also known as Go Fun Rewards, is closing in the doors in the USA, and would no longer be doing any business with United State distributors. In 2012, GoFunRewards announced it was going to launch a revenue sharing based penny auction under the brand “Go Fun Places”.

MLM Attorney Kevin Thompson mentioned in an article in March 23 against this type of Leveraged Profit Sharing Programs.

Former Agel CEO Glen Jensen briefly stepped in Go Fun Places, before he abruptly resigned just over a month after taking up the position. Citing “legal advice” as the reason for the shutdown, the company published the following message on Facebook:

"Acting on advice from legal counsel, Go Fun Places has ceased operations in the United States. The company will operate in Hong Kong.

As of May 1, 2013, all operations and Affiliates in the United States have been terminated".

Go Fun Rewards affiliates are also claiming that US-based Vice-President Mike Driggers has resigned from the company. In February this year former Go Fun Rewards CEO Randal Williams filed a lawsuit against eAdGear, seeking $30 million USD in damages.


Javita Coffee Sales Up 78% in April

John Haremza,  Master Distributor for Javita, just announced that sales will pass the magic $1,000,000 in May.

Sales were up 54% March over February and an amazing 78% April over March. 

New member applications increased 67%. 

John says:  "I have never experienced this level of customer interest our new customer applications increased 63%.” As John Haremza says, “We are in that ‘sweet spot’ just before momentum, small enough that a leader can establish their place and big enough to be over the risk threshold”.

John Milton Fogg confirms Top Network Marketer Robert "Bob" Middleton has passed away in Las Vegas, USA. Bob earned up to  $2 million a year with Starlight.

John Milton Fogg has published in his bestseller "The Greatest Networkers In The World" about Bob Middleton as follows:

Robert Middleton grew up in Charlottesville, Virginia, “with a silver spoon in my mouth and one in each hand,” he says. But at the time he was growing up, Bob didn’t realize that.

He lived on a 744-acre Hereford cattle farm thinking “everyone knew what dirt smelled like.” It was his grandparents’ estate. They were industrialists and they founded a company called Babcock and Wilcox (B&W) back in 1856.

The property is currently the site of the University of Virginia’s Birdwood golf course. It was a big farm. They had stables, a dairy and cows, sheep, horses, even Hereford show cattle. They did 55,000 bales of hay every season.

How did Bob get involved in Network Marketing? He reluctantly went to an opportunity meeting. “A friend of mine, Steve, called me and kept bugging me to go to this meeting,” Bob said. “I had moved into building material sales and he was one of my biggest clients.

So I said, ‘If you’ll buy me lunch, I’ll listen to anything you say.’ I hated eating alone.”b“So, he bought me lunch and kind of started drawing circles, and… I was bored to death. Then he said, ‘Look, we need to go to a meeting.’ And I said, ‘If you will never mention Network Marketing to me again, I will go to any meeting you want.’ And I went.”

There were a couple of hundred people in the room. They played a video with some country music by Rex Allen on it and the guy in the front of the room had white hair that was swept way back. He had been a funeral plot salesman. Bob was "kind of" impressed, but not really, and he wasn’t really paying attention either.

And then, at the very end of the meeting, they gave Bob’s friend Steve an award for earning $16,000 in one month. Bob had never made $16,000 in his life in one month—in anything. That finally got his attention. He signed up immediately.

Dan Martin Named As Xocai VP Of Distributor Relations

Marketing Xocolate International Corporation (MXI Corp) has expanded its leadership team, hiring a vice president of distributor relations. Dan Martin, MXI Corp’s new vice president of distributor relations, brings with him nearly 20 years of corporate experience to MXI Corp

“Dan brings with him experience and know how that will benefit MXI Corp on many levels, especially in his new role as vice president of distributor relations,” said Andrew Brooks, founder and executive vice president at MXI Corp. “I have known Dan for many years, both personally and professionally, and he is the right person to grow this role and help expand this company.”

As vice president of distributor relations, Martin will work between the MXI Corp management team and distributors worldwide. He has also been charged with working with other key leadership to grow the company and to act as a sounding board for distributors, taking comments and suggestions on how to improve the corporate distributor relationship.

The Communicator Awards is the leading international awards program honoring creative excellence for communication professionals.
