Teddy Roque – ViSalus Pawning A Wedding Ring Transformed His Life

Vi Ambassador Teddy Roque used to live paycheck to paycheck, and like many people in the country, the economic crisis hit him hard.

To get back on his feet, Teddy turned to ViSalus, but he didn’t have the money to sign up with the Executive Promoter System (EPS), so he did what he felt necessary. Teddy pawned his grandfather’s wedding ring.

“My wife told me I was crazy, but for me, it’s even crazier to live paycheck to paycheck and not do anything about it,” says Teddy.

It was a tough decision because his grandfather had passed away recently and this was a very special gift. But Teddy had already lost his house and two cars, and more importantly, his youngest child needed special medical treatment due to a tumor in one of his eyes.

Giving up wasn’t an option. “Vi seemed so revolutionary and innovative,” says Teddy. It was a fresh start for his family, and pawning the ring was simply another indication that his grandfather was still there for him—even in spirit.

“Nobody in the family knew about the ring; my grandfather had hid it for years, says Teddy. “It’s very valuable to me, and I knew I was going to get it back from the pawnshop.” And he did, but it wasn’t easy. Teddy signed up with the EPS because he knew he would have the right tools to promote The Challenge. Nevertheless, his first week as a Promoter was rough. He wasn’t following the proven Vi system at the time.

But he didn’t give up. By his second week, Teddy started following the system, put a strategy in place and set specific goals. Teddy’s team began to grow little by little, and after three weeks, he returned to the pawnshop to buy back the ring. He even Challenged the pawnshop employee to take the PROJECT 10™ Challenge.

Now Teddy is an Ambassador promoting The Challenge full-time and working hard to develop his teams from California to Puerto Rico. He also spends more time with his children and continues learning from Vi’s top leaders. As for the ring, Teddy states, “It’s in a safe now. I’m saving it for my son.

Former Miss America Teresa Scanlan Wins Weight Battle with ViSalus

Winning the title of Miss America in 2011 was just the start for Teresa Scanlan of Purcellville, Virginia, USA.

With the title came a year of constant travel, which resulted in a 30 lb. weight gain. Top Industry Leader Orrin Woodward Planning GUINNESS WORLD RECORDS Record

Orrin Woodward, author of And Justice for All, is taking a different approach to his next book signing. Rather than simply greeting his fans, he is attempting to set a GUINNESS WORLD RECORDS® title for the “Largest Book Signing” in history.

Vísi Breaks Records In May For A Second Month In A Row

Vísi, a progressive global network marketing company, today announced that the company has broken its sales records for a second month in a row. May's record sales are a continuation of the increasing growth the company has seen since the beginning of 2014 as the company sits squarely in the momentum phase of growth.

The two-year-old company's Founder and CEO Kent Lewis attributes the record sales months to many factors, including innovative products, strategic international growth and a seasoned executive team. Rep Opens Organo Gold Coffee Shop In USA

A new coffee shop In Seneca Falls, New York, USA will caffeinate its customers with a brew that owner Jessica Sinicropi believes will promote health and wellness. The Corner Cup, which opens Friday, sells Organo Gold coffees.

“What is so special about it is it contains ganoderma,” Sinicropi said. “It’s actually a Reishi mushroom from China.” Sinicropi and Organo Gold say ganoderma is an antioxidant that may strengthen the immune system, provide an energy boost and support quality sleep.

Although ganoderma has been used in Chinese medicine for centuries, those claims are not universally accepted — in fact, some websites warn of side effects. Sinicropi encouraged people to research it for themselves, noting the coffee agrees with her.

The business also will serve hot chocolate, green tea and iced coffee. She will sell boxes of coffee and brew cups too.

The Corner Cup, at 43 Fall St., is adjacent to Jessica and Company, the hair salon Sinicropi opened five years ago. The Corner Cup space formerly housed a massage therapist. Sinicropi said she liked it because of the views it offers of downtown and VanCleef Lake. The business will seat about eight people.

“It’s small and quaint,” Sinicropi said. She said a trip to Italy, where she frequented cafés, sparked an interest in opening a coffee shop. She learned about Organo Gold at a seminar in San Antonio she heard about from a friend.

After renting the space for The Corner Cup, Sinicropi renovated it “from floor to ceiling.” She said she’s grateful to all the people who helped her get ready for opening day.

“My friends, my family and my staff have really helped me get this place going,” she said.

Sinicropi has yet to set hours for The Corner Cup. She said it probably will be open from 6:30 a.m. to 8 p.m. Tuesdays through Sundays. So far, she has hired two people, but said that number could rise if the business takes off. Her plans could grow too.

“This is just the beginning,” Sinicropi said. “I’m going to expand into a lot of different things.”

Amway Reaches Out To India Government To Release CEO William Pinckney

Amway President Doug DeVos has sought the intervention of the Narendra Modi (India) government for the release of the company’s India head William Scott Pinckney, while asking to “restore confidence in India’s investment potential”.

The company also wants clear guidelines for direct sellers in India to avoid such arrests in the future.

Mr. Pinckney was arrested by the Andhra Pradesh police last month in connection with a criminal case filed against the company and remanded to 14-day judicial custody by a court in Kurnool district. It faces nine criminal cases in the state.

“We understand that the new Union government in New Delhi played no role in this police action and hope they will help in the immediate release of Bill (Pinckney) so he can quickly and safely return to his family,” Mr. DeVos said in a video message for the Indian market.

He further said: “We also ask for them (Central Government) to assist us in moving to resolve this situation and restore confidence in India’s investment potential and we ask for this to happen quickly.”

Condemning the arrest, Mr. DeVos said, “We are fully cooperating with all investigations and requests from authorities in India and will continue to do so. To continue with this detention when we have worked to be entirely transparent about our business is unnecessary and unreasonable.” Last year, Mr. Pinckney was arrested by the Kerala Police along with two company directors on charges of alleged financial irregularities under the Prize Chits and Money Circulation Schemes (Banning) Act, 1978.

The Indian Direct Selling Association has requested the government to amend the act by inserting the definition of pyramid marketing schemes to identify a product-based money circulation scheme and to differentiate it from the business of direct selling and their incentive structure.

Reiterating the demand of direct sellers for a proper policy for the sector, Mr. DeVos said: “Ultimately, our goal is to find the solutions that prevent events like this from ever happening. We want to operate under clear guidelines that enable us to continue to contribute to the growing prosperity of Indian citizens and the country as a whole.” He said the company is committed to the Indian market.

“Despite the challenging market conditions, we remain committed to doing business in India…We will continue to expand our investments in India, including the new $100 million manufacturing facility in Tamil Nadu,” Mr. DeVos said.

Stating that the company is committed to 500 employees and hundred of thousands of distributors in India who have built ‘legitimate business’ by selling its products, he said, “It’s what we have been doing in India since 1998 and it’s what we intend to do for generations to come.”

Amber how did you start in Network Marketing?

I started in Network Marketing at the age of 17, I always knew this industry was for me, I just had to find my niche.

How did you transitioned to Younique, did a newbie sign you up :) ?

I was actually involved with another company and one of my team members joined Younique (just for the make up in the starter kit) I tried a few of the products and was hooked, I then joined on August 28th 2013 well just for the starter kit, I told her I am happy where I am DO NOT put me in the company Facebook group and don’t expect me to do the business…..

Fast forward 1 week later, I posted some selfies on Facebook and it blew up! We had $43,000 in team sales that first month… My mind was blown! It took me a year in my previous company to do $38,000 in monthly sales… After much thinking and praying I decided I had to jump full force into Younique, which turned out to be the best decision I have ever made…. besides marrying my hubby of course. ;)

What is your WHY?

Answer: My why has changed since starting Younique, I use to want to provide for my little boys to give them a nice home and to never have to worry about the electric bills or where our next meal would come from, now my why has switched to helping other mothers and fathers provide for their family, I don’t want any parent to have to choose between rent and groceries…

I have been there and its a horrible place to be. So my why is to help as many people as i possibly can gain finical freedom as I have done, My husband David and I also are starting a organization to help teenage parents 100% funded with my Younique earnings, so thats a pretty big WHY for me as well.

Answer: 100% personal development, I didn’t start seeing success till I really focused daily on growing myself into the leader that I wanted to be.

Answer: Where do I start? How do you build leaders and get the duplication in?

Answer: I believe it all starts with you. “People do what you do, not what you say” so if I want my team to go out and recruit…. I am out recruiting, if I want them to go out and sell… you better believe I am out there selling! I also try to do videos, I feel so strongly about videos for duplication, no matter how far down its shared, the info is always the same! I am currently working with a designer on a new team training page that I am really excited about!

What advice would you give to someone entering network marketing?

Answer: Study the industry, Read Go Pro and have fun! Don’t focus on the results, instead focus on the actions.. when we focus on the results sometimes they don’t come fast enough and we get discouraged… instead focus on the actions to get to those results… if thats talking to 3 new people per day …. after you talk to those three people and they don’t join… THATS OK! CELEBRATE!

Because you did what you where suppose to do! (the results will come naturally) Also go into every conversation just looking to make a friend, not trying to sell or recruit…. just make that relationship! :)

It Works! Opens New Headquarters In USA

It Works!, a major distributor of health and beauty products including The Ultimate Body Applicator, is expanding and relocating its headquarters to Palmetto, Florida, USA

With more than $450 million in worldwide sales last year, It Works! has more than 60,000 independent distributors who are paid commissions on direct sales of more than 30 health and beauty products in 18 countries. Inc. Magazine ranks It Works! one of America's 500 fastest growing companies.

Its best known product is the Body Applicator, a contouring body wrap product that company officials say tightens, tones and firms any area of the body in 45 minutes. The company was founded in 2001 in Michigan by former teacher Mark Pentecost. A decade later, he moved company headquarters to Bradenton. The new location, at 908 Riverside Drive in Palmetto, is just north of downtown Bradenton.

"We have loyal customers who keep coming back," says It Works! spokeswoman Kate Martin. 

Company growth in foreign countries also is strong and recently was expanded into Denmark, England, Spain and Germany. Additional countries soon will be added to the list, Martin says.

More than a year ago, the company purchased a 34,000-square-foot building in Palmetto for about $3.1 million, and recently completed an expansion to 50,000 square feet.

Opening day will be in mid-June. Nearly 90 employees work at the new headquarters but by early 2015 company officials anticipate hiring another 50 or so employees.

About 10 positions are open now, says Martin. Most jobs will be with IT, social media, marketing and customer service.

Amway: We Have Never Left A Country And We will Not Leave India

Following the arrest of William S Pinckney, managing director and chief executive officer, Amway India, the US-based direct selling company has sent its regional president of Europe, South Africa and India, Samir Behl to take control of the situation.

Behl, who heads the company's operations in more than 65 countries, will stay put in India till the issue is settled. In an interview with Surajeet Das Gupta and Sounak Mitra, he says such uncalled for and unreasonable incidents do give negative signals to investors, but these could be considered as the cost of doing business as a company, which has pioneered the business model in India. Edited excerpts:

In the past one year, Amway India MD & CEO has been arrested twice based on similar FIRs. Will you continue doing business in India?

Globally, we have faced challenges in many countries. But we have never left any country and we'll not leave India. India is one of the top 10 markets by sales for Amway. We are here for the long haul and there is no change in our ongoing and future investment plans.

We are having dialogues with the officials at the central and state (Andhra Pradesh) levels. We have also asked for a meeting with the finance minister. Our officials have also met the Indian Ambassador to the US, S Jaishankar. Amway Chairman Steve Van Andel will also meet him this week.

Besides, we are having discussions with the US-India Business Council (USIBC) and US Chamber. Here, we have been discussing with the US Embassy. We have also briefed the new US Ambassador to India (interim) Kathleen Stephens about the issue. This is has become a global issue.

Do you take these as the cost of doing business?

As the pioneer in the industry and being the market leader, Amway has always faced headwinds. But we also have the first-mover advantage. Our model is sound, and we are growing at a good rate. Yes, this can be taken as the cost of doing business in such countries where there is no proper law for the direct selling industries, and in the emerging markets.

In any country, we always abide by the rules of the land. Unfortunately, there is no proper Act for the direct selling companies, and the Prize Chits and Money Circulation Schemes (Banning) Act (PCMCS) has nothing to do with what direct selling companies like Amway do.

We sell products like any other consumer goods company, and anybody can become a distributor. The fact is that our business model is different from conventional consumer goods companies.

There have been discussions between direct selling companies and the government to amend the PCMC Act in the past few years. But nothing has changed. Until then, there will be more such incidents. How do you plan to manage?

We have had long consultation with the earlier government but amendment of an Act takes time in any country. This has been delayed further due to the elections. We are hopeful with the new government. We are in dialogue with the finance ministry officials as the PCMC Act comes under it.

What do you think is the key reason for such FIRs?

We are into people's business. About 50,000 people join Amway every month as distributors. These FIRs were not filed by any of them, or by any consumer. These were filed (signed) by the advocates, and the activists. All the FIRs are well-planned and identical. We have always co-operated with all kind of investigation, and we have said that we'll co-operate.

While the investigation is carried on, the person should be relieved. You can't just keep on moving him from jail to jail. There may have been some perception issues and the misapplication of the PCMC Act. We are not into any money-circulation business. We sell products like any other consumer goods company and we give proper money-back guarantee.

There have been complaints of mis-selling of products. How do you control that?

We do everything we can. We try to prevent such things and we try to educate. We also have officials who are on the field looking into these things. And, whenever something like this is being reported to us, we have taken steps to stop that immediately.

In many countries, we have also changed or tweaked distribution model. In some cases, we decided not to permit joining from certain professional background. We keep on reviewing these, and change as and when required.
