Petya and Tim Edwards – Global One Entertainment Top Earners Interview

Petya and Tim Edwards from Dallas, USA are one of the top new teams in Global One Entertainment (G1E).

Instead of trying to sell what people "need to buy" that includes behavior changes, creating new habits or requires discipline G1E focuses on what many people want "fun and entertainment". They have monetized  some of the most exciting global trends in direct sales.

Tim and Petya have a refreshing approach with a focus on mentoring. They say "sponsors sign you up, uplines collect checks but mentors work "with YOU personally" to help you make money".

If you ask 100 reps in any company "what are the two things you need most" many say I don't get enough help and I don't make enough money. Tim and Petya believe "if you build people, the business takes care of itself". They also take a different approach to "systems".

Tim believes the industry has gone too far with automation. For many it's become about "the sales funnel" which adds complexity and cost plus it takes the focus off people. This is a relationship business and nobody has a relationship with a funnel and you can't call it for help. Plus many are not technical and struggle setting up capture pages and autoresponders. Their motto is "Simplicity Duplicates" so Tim and Petya pay to build pages and set up autoresponders for everyone on their team.

Then when someone responds they switch gears to a high touch relationship culture. They also believe in giving back so they pay monthly for every team members' system, so it's completely free. People ask why? Because we believe it's a lot easier to make a profit than it is to make a difference.

Petya and Tim, how did you got involved into the Network Marketing business? Who invited you?

I had a family member give me a video in 1992, Petya and I were married when I was semi-retired in 2009…and she became intrigued with the business.

What was your opinion about MLM before you got involved?

I was an open minded entrepreneur…so I had no reservations whatsoever.

How did you transitioned to Global One Entertainment, did a newbie sign you up :) ?

Being from Texas I decided to look for my last rodeo, I did research looking for a good CEO, looking for non consumable products because the global reach would be faster and the bonuses larger, this would allow me to help more people faster.

What is the secret of your success?

I learned in my first program which I spent 17 years there….that high levels of mentoring and targeted marketing were the key. I created the #1 recruiting team out of 1,000,000 reps in 50 countries in Nu Skin. So we will apply the same here. It's the best of both worlds, high tech and high touch…at the highest levels.

Is personal development important for you?

It's everything. Those who know better, do better. Nobody provides mentoring on the level we do.

Who are your mentors?

I didn't have one early on. About year 5 into my career I hit the top of Nu Skins pay plan and I ended up spending some time with a few high level leaders but I don't work with any today.

Class Action Complaint Against ACN And XOOM Energy

Oladipupo Adesina files this class action (Case 3:14-cv-00562-GCM) complaint in the USA – North Carolina on behalf of himself and all others similarly situated.

The class action alleges that ACN and XOOM used a fraudulent and deceptive bait-and-switch sales model to get customers to switch to the XOOM Energy Simpleflex flexible energy plan with a low promotional rate offer and energy savings, and then charging customers exorbitant, non-competitive rates after the promotional period.

It also alleges that ACN and XOOM concealed certain material information regarding the upward trend of the customers’ energy rates and that ACN IBO’s and that ACN’s and XOOM’s websites fraudulently state that consumer would save money on their energy bills and that the consumers’ rates were competitive.

It is further alleged that ACN and XOOM make the cancellation process lengthy and difficult, with cancellation taking up to two billing cycles.

The complaint cites numerous online customer complaints about the plan.

According to the class action complaint:

"ACN and XOOM sales pitch is in reality false and misleading in that the rates actually charged to consumers are not competitive and bear little relation to prevailing market conditions. As a consequence of this scheme, consumers across the nation are essentially being scammed out of millions of dollars in exorbitant charges for electricity and gas".

"ACN and XOOM also advise their IBOs to advertise to their customers that by switching to XOOM, they will enjoy energy costs savings. As one IBO has explained, “They tell us during the meetings that XOOM Energy is a way for your family and friends to save money on their electricity and gas bills and for you to make quick money.”

These statements are materially misleading, because by switching to XOOM, consumers receive energy services that are substantially more costly".

The complaint contains the following counts against ACN and XOOM:

1.      Violation of the NC Unfair and Deceptive Trade Practices Act.

2.      Breach of contract.

3.      Breach of the covenant of good faith and fair dealing.

4.      Fraud.

5.      Negligent misrepresentation.

6.      Unjust enrichment

Herbalife Will Ban All USA Reps Websites

Herbalife Ltd. (HLF) is already dealing with the allegations of running a pyramid scheme, and has once again become the topic of discussion due to its new policy. This time, however, it’s for something that can counter the allegations.

As a part of its strategy to prove the allegations wrong and make its business model more transparent and understandable, Herbalife has come up with a new policy that is expected to be enforced on November 15. According to the reports from New York Post, Herbalife will ban all the websites run by USA distributors and will take their business to a corporate controlled website. The company designed the website goherbalife.com for specifically this purpose.

This website not only helps the company take the distributors’ business into its own hands, but will serve several other purposes as well. Herbalife has recently started to focus on improving its brand image and the use of direct marketing strategies. It is now taking new initiatives for building a strong relationship with the community and giving its consumers a feel of connection with the Herbalife brand.

This is because the website will enable the nutrition-products manufacturer to provide a consistent image of its brands. While earlier each distributor was presenting the brand in a way to suit the customers that it was targeting, the company-run website will enable a uniform presentation of the brand, thus helping Herbalife strengthen its brand image and communicating a consistent brand personality to all the consumers.

Furthermore, one of the major criticisms of Herbalife has been distributors’ claims about its products and business. For selling their products and expanding their business, Herbalife’s distributors were making claims about the products that could put the company at risk. Some of these claims could even make the company liable to legal proceedings and negatively impact Herbalife’s reputation even if they are found to be false.

To save itself from this criticism and help protect consumers’ interests, Herbalife had earlier started to take initiatives such as training its distributors and getting legal documents signed from them for following ethical business practices. And now by running a single website, the task of monitoring distributors’ websites will be eliminated and the company can choose to claim whatever it feels is legally correct. Therefore, the new initiative will help Herbalife reduce many of the claims made by its distributors to the consumers without taking permission from the company.

The third purpose of the initiative is to provide a concrete answer to all those who have been accusing the company of being a pyramid scheme. Herbalife is eliminating the sales function of its distributors and is taking it into its own hands. This will end the allegations that the company sells products to its distributors, who buy them for the purpose of resale, and that there exists no real demand for the product from consumers’ end.

The company has already implemented a “gold standard” return policy that is applicable for unused products and it has already placed a ban on selling Internet leads as counter actions.

Finally, Herbalife can help increase its sales through this initiative. The company will now be face to face with the buyers and it can use this forum to market its products and get feedback to create new products. Eventually, Herbalife’s dependence on the multi-level marketing might also reduce with such initiatives and it might then transform into a direct marketing business.

Amway Gives Stanford University $10 million For First Of Its Kind Study On Health

Stanford University will undertake a first-of-its kind study to track how everything from exercising to eating fresh produce can lengthen a human lifespan. Amway is picking up tab.

The direct sales giant is donating $10 million for the new Stanford project, WELL, short for Wellness Living Laboratory, which will launch next year.

The program will focus on wellness, rather than diseases, with the hypothesis that promoting wellness thwarts diseases, Dr. John Ioannidis, the head of the Stanford Prevention Research Center, told Scope, a Stanford Medical School publication.

He added that participants will track and report much of their information remotely and digitally. They also will have the opportunity to enroll in a variety of clinical trials to test various interventions, such as nutrition counseling or smoking cessation programs.

What is unusual about this study is that it is designed to monitor the health of people over a five year period, or longer.

“It really helps us understand how we characterize wellness,” said Audra Davies, vice president of nutrition product development and analytical sciences for Amway.

“What is it that is keeping people well, and helping them to thrive. What are the important characteristics. There is a strong interest in understanding biomarkers of health. It is really about shifting the conversation about disease.”

Nutrilite’s association with the university extends back to the 1990s. Amway has endowed a chair at Stanford in the name of Carl Rehnborg, who is considered a pioneer of vitamin supplements.

“As I understand it, it was the very first chair in a medical school devoted to disease prevention,” said Sam Rehnborg, the youngest son of the Nutrilite founder.

Actress Huma Qureshi has been signed as the ambassador of colour cosmetics section of direct selling brand Oriflame India.

Jeff and Michelle Altgilbers from Knoxville, Tennessee, USA  are one of the top earners in 4Life and high up in the Business For Home Top 200 ranks at est. $200,000 per month.

Jeff and Michelle, how did you got involved into the Network Marketing business? Who invited you?

I got involved back in 1978 with Forever Living Products by a friend. I did not know anything about MLM and keep in mind at that time it was pre-internet almost pre-anything other than the phone and post office.

What was your opinion about MLM before you got involved?

I did not have an opinion since neither I nor my first sponsor understood the business model. I understood you needed to sell the product and get customers. The concept of having a a distribution network was unknown to me then.

What is the secret to your success?

 I have always believed the secret to success is Not to keep success a secret! Some of the most obvious ingredients often overlooked are: (1) Its all about the People!! I work through my people to find my best leaders!

I take average people and get to Know who they Know! What I find is that in their lifetime they have met or have come to know people who have great leadership skill's and influence. My best leaders came through this process. I asked one woman on the phone who answered an ad in Hawaii, "who do you know that enjoys Network Marketing?", she led me to a very successful Network Marketer in Japan.

I asked another woman I sponsored in Canada "who do you know?"  She had told me she spoke to a lady in Singapore about 4Life but she wasn't interested. I asked for her phone number and made a lunch appointment with her and flew to Singapore and in 2 days I had her in the business!

I did this with many leaders and I drove my business very deep in the 3 major teams I have under me. Deep means security! You weakest link is where you focus. I am proud to say that I have in my 3 teams over 100 Millionaires! That is because we have such a highly residual product line and a profitable pay plan and a system to guide leaders with.

Another ingredient is System! I have a Free online system with replicated websites and password secured back offices that has my e-book explaining the 10 steps of duplication, training videos, audio library and presentation videos that they can be emailed to anyone in any country. Having a system is imperative today for someone who wants to be a professional network marketer!

Is personal development important for you and your leaders?

 I have always believed in personal growth. Our team will never be any larger than our personal growth. Years ago one of my mentors said "Jeff, work harder on yourself than you do your team." That took awhile to sink in my brain. I started in Network Marketing broke. I had a company that after 10 years I had lost my 2 major accounts and went bankrupt! I had nothing left and did not know how I would ever get back on my feet!

Then I thought about Network Marketing. I had always played with it before as a hobby or a second income. Now I was ready to COMMIT to it! When I found this company I knew this was the one for me, but I was broke! One day I sat on my porch depressed and wondered "What could I do to get started?" then I saw the only thing left from my bankrupt company was a junk truck setting in my drive way. I called a man from the junkyard to come over and see what he would give me for it.

He came over and said "I'll give you $400 dollars!" I took it and put $200 dollars into products and got started building my business! Today my business produces 17 Million a Month! I started that with $200 dollars!! I asked 4Life how much I have earned to date? Since they changed software years ago I could not get a quick enough answer but since 2005 till now I have earned over 12 Million dollars! I get paid out of 53 countries.

Personal growth was very important as I built my business. I can remember beginning every day listening to Anthony Robbins and taking notes. I would do dream walks in rich neighborhoods imagining how my life would change! and in 18 months I went from broke to moving into one of those dream houses!  Thats the power of belief that Anthony my mentor had taught me so well!

Jeff, is Michelle your "secret weapon" in MLM?

Is my wife my secret weapon? Hahaha! Well she brought alot of my success to a purpose or a reason why I do this.

I have learned that If we are successful we go through a 3 step process. They all begin with "S". (1) Sustainance: where we are able to pay our bills and make a living with this business. (2) Success: where we now can afford a dream house and a dream car. (3) Significance: a Life where you find meaning and purpose for living and realize that all those material things were not as important.

What is important is contributing to others and becoming a servant leader. I lived out of my suit case and traveled in 10 Asian countries for 5 years working this business. I met Michelle who would become my wife in Taiwan. We have 2 children together and just love raising them and living in the mountains of Tennessee.

Who are your mentors?

 Well we all have several don't we? But I will start with Anthony Robbins. He took my brain that was frozen in the past to believing "the past doesn't equal the future!" Jim Rohn is another and John Maxwell. I also am moved by Jesus's teachings who was a great servant leader. The best mentors are the ones who serve the most.

Why 4Life, what makes it different?

I was looking for long term residual income. I had been in other companies and made some great money in a short amount of time, but it was the typical "goes up like a rocket then down like a rocket" opportunity! I wanted a Home! and 4Life has been a home for me for almost 17 years! I credit that to our unique product line and visionary corporate leadership that David Lisonbee and Steve Tew provided.

What are your plan and goals for the future?'

Though we have had solid growth since our launch in 1998 we are not a giant like Amway or Herbalife. My goals are to focus on those leaders who work hard in my team to help them to a level of success I have experienced. I have never made this about me, it was always about my people! So I have not retired, but I love being a father and driving my children to school every day. I am always working with leaders around the world and my plans are to help develop all the countries we are in today.

Do you have advice for a “Newbie” in the MLM industry?

Find a mentor, or mentors! You need a coach to help you and guide you. Someone who has been through everything your going to experience. That mentor can help you avoid alot of mistakes and get you on the fast track to where you need to be.

Kirby Cochran – CEO Wake Up Now Steps Down

Wake Up Now, a public MLM company (WORC:US) CEO Kirby Cochran has stepped down and COO Phil Polich is named as the new CEO.

USANA – Q3 Revenue Up 10.5% to $191.9 million

USANA Health Sciences, Inc. (NYSE: USNA) today announced financial results for its fiscal third quarter ended September 27, 2014. The Company also provided updated net sales and earnings guidance for 2014.

Financial Performance:

For the third quarter of 2014, net sales increased by 10.5% to $191.9 million, compared with $173.7 million in the prior-year period. The increase in net sales was driven by overall Associate growth of 18.8%, which was generated by the Companys Asia Pacific region.

Net earnings for the third quarter increased by 16.4% to $19.5 million, compared with $16.8 million during the prior-year period. This increase was driven by higher net sales and lower relative Associate Incentives expense. On a relative basis, Associate Incentives expense declined due to a $4.5 million one-time payout resulting from the pricing and compensation plan initiatives implemented by the Company in the third quarter of 2013. Earnings per share for the quarter increased by 26.7% to $1.47, compared with $1.16 in the third quarter of the prior year.

This increase in earnings per share was attributable to higher net earnings and a lower number of diluted shares outstanding due to the Companys share repurchases during 2014. Weighted average diluted shares outstanding were 13.3 million as of the end of the third quarter of 2014, compared with 14.4 million in the prior-year period.

Top and bottom line results for the third quarter benefitted from the recognition of $3.1 million of deferred revenue in Hong Kong. Earnings per share for the quarter benefitted by $0.11 as a result of this revenue recognition.

During the quarter, the Company repurchased approximately 1.1 million shares under its authorized repurchase program for a total investment of $76.6 million. Additionally, as of October 24, 2014, the Company has subsequently invested $13.2 million to repurchase approximately 172,000 shares pursuant to a Rule 10b5-1 plan. As of October 24, 2014, there were $61.2 million remaining under the current share repurchase authorization. The Company ended the third quarter with approximately $87.7 million in cash and cash equivalents and $10 million on its revolving line of credit.

USANA generated solid operating results in the third quarter, which included double-digit sales, earnings and customer growth, said Kevin Guest, USANAs President. We also continued to see impressive growth in world-wide unit volume, Auto Order sales and check earners. This growth was driven by the pricing and compensation plan enhancements we made a year ago and our management teams continued promotion of those enhancements during 2014. While we are pleased with the growth in each of these metrics, customer growth continues to be our highest priority, as we seek to improve the overall health and nutrition of individuals and families around the world.

Regional Results

Net sales in the Asia Pacific region increased by 21.3% to $130.2 million, compared with $107.4 million for the third quarter of the prior year, and increased 4.5% sequentially. The year-over-year increase was due to 29.2% sales growth in the Greater China region and 10.6% sales growth in the Southeast Asia Pacific region.

Sales growth in Greater China was driven by double-digit sales and customer growth in Mainland China, while sales growth in Southeast Asia Pacific resulted from strong sales and customer growth in Australia/New Zealand, the Philippines and Thailand. The number of active Associates in the Asia Pacific region increased by 28.2% year-over-year, due primarily to double-digit Associate growth in the Greater China and Southeast Asia Pacific regions.

Net sales in the Americas/Europe region declined 6.9% to $61.7 million, due primarily to a sales decline in the U.S., which was partially offset by net sales growth in other markets in the region. The number of active Associates in this region declined slightly compared to the prior-year period.

Nu Skin Q3 Revenue Down 30% To $638 Million

Nu Skin Enterprises, Inc. (NYSE: NUS) today announced third-quarter results with revenue of $638.8 million, the top end of the company's prior guidance and a 30 percent decline from the prior-year period.

Comparable revenue in the third quarter of 2013 included $203 million in sales from the company's limited-time introduction of its ageLOC® TR90® weight management system.

Revenue for the third quarter of 2014 was negatively impacted three percent by foreign currency fluctuations. Earnings per share for the quarter were $1.12, ahead of expectations, versus $1.80 in the prior-year period.
 

"We made significant progress during the third quarter," said Truman Hunt, president and chief executive officer.

"We believe our business in China is stabilizing as we are seeing improving trends in the early sales leader pipeline, we strengthened our capital structure and balance sheet flexibility, we are making good progress in our product development efforts, and we generated positive operating cash flow.

We have also seen continued enthusiasm among our sales force at recent sales leader conventions in our South Asia/Pacific, Greater China and Americas regions.

"Our sales results are heavily impacted by our product launch schedule. Last year's second-half launch, which generated approximately $550 million in sales, provides a difficult year-over-year comparison. However, excluding product launch sales, the core business has stabilized and is trending positively sequentially.

The dynamics of the core business reinforce our confidence in the long-term prospects for Nu Skin and our ability to renew local-currency growth in 2015."

Regional Results

Greater China. In Greater China, third-quarter revenue declined 50 percent to $226.7 million when compared to the prior-year period, which included $153.6 million of limited-time offer (LTO) sales, compared to $59.3 million of LTO sales in the third quarter of 2014. The region's results were not impacted by foreign currency fluctuations.

The sales leader count in the region declined 57 percent, while the number of actives declined 43 percent compared to the prior-year period. This decline is primarily a result of the company's temporary, self-imposed restriction on sales leader recruitment earlier this year. Results for the region reflect third-quarter sales in Mainland China down 1 percent versus the second quarter of 2014.

North Asia. Third-quarter revenue in North Asia increased 2 percent to $205.5 million, compared to $202.4 million for the same period in 2013. The region's results were positively impacted 2 percent by foreign currency fluctuations. South Korea generated local-currency revenue growth of 6 percent while Japan local-currency revenue declined 9 percent. The number of sales leaders in the region declined 5 percent and the number of actives declined 7 percent.

South Asia/Pacific. Revenue in South Asia/Pacific was $88.9 million, a 30 percent decline compared to the prior-year period, which included $45.7 million in LTO sales. The region's results were negatively impacted 1 percent by foreign currency fluctuations. The region's third-quarter sales leaders and actives declined 15 and 3 percent, respectively, compared to the same period in 2013.

Americas. Currency fluctuations in the Americas region offset 19 percent local-currency growth, with reported revenue in the Americas declining 10 percent to $76.7 million, compared to $84.8 million in the prior-year period. The currency impact was primarily driven by the devaluation of currency in Venezuela. The number of sales leaders in the region declined 3 percent and the number of actives improved 4 percent compared to the prior-year period.

EMEA. Revenue in the EMEA region was $40.9 million, an 8 percent decline from the prior-year period. The region's results were negatively impacted 1 percent by foreign currency fluctuations. Sales leaders declined 6 percent, and actives declined 7 percent, compared to the prior-year period.

Noal, what was your opinion about MLM before you got involved, did your parents influence you?

I knew the industry worked if I would work it. After seeing my parents become successful in a major MLM when I was a child, I knew it was a great option for me to dive in to.

How did you transitioned to Brain Abundance, did a newbie sign you up?

The transition was an experience in itself. I had become one of the top money earners in a company that eventually merged with another company. The products were gone, the compensation plan was even gone. We lost most of our income that we had worked so hard for.

I wasn’t giving up though, I searched for several months for something I would be proud to partner with, something I knew was sustainable, and something I would be confident to share with others.

When I finally chose to partner with Brain Abundance, I partnered with someone I had known for a few years. I wanted to make sure the team we were building would have the proper help and support that was needed in building a successful business.

What is the secret of your success?

I never have considered myself successful. I firmly believe that once a person goes into management mode, their organization is going to fall apart. Taking action daily is very important when building your business. People can have goals and dreams but if they are not taking action they will simply remain a dream.

How do you get duplication in?

I believe in keeping it simple. Not everyone can properly execute a webinar presentation or a conference call, however everyone can invite.  Some of my greatest mentors taught me to become a professional inviter.

As long as I could invite effectively I could build my business. When you can keep it as simple as inviting people to “push play” duplication just falls in place.

Do you just enroll anybody or are you selective?

I will enroll anyone who is serious about joining me.  I usually put people through a small interview and discuss their goals. I want to make sure their goals and expectations are realistic based on their experience in the industry.  I do believe that anyone can do MLM. If I can do it anyone can.

Why Brain Abundance, what makes it different?

Brain Abundance is a breath of fresh air to me, starting with the leadership. Having a CEO who is a successful network marketer was very important to me. Brain Abundance has a first to market product in our industry. Looking at the track records of other companies who were first to market their particular product I am confident that Brain Abundance will be the leading company that focuses on Brain Health.

One of the things that really caught my eye was the ability to build this business online or offline. With all of the tools that are offered with the turn key marketing system, it really makes it simple for even a newbie to get started relatively fast.

Is personal development important for you and your leaders?

Absolutely, I am learning something new every day. Personal development should be a requirement to have your own business. I encourage not only my leaders to partake in personal development, but everyone on the team.

Do you "Babysit" your members?

 I wouldn’t say I babysit, I keep people informed. It is up to each individual to take action and develop a routine in building their business. I have never been in the business of pacifying my team.

What are your plan and goals for the future?

My plan is to always be looking forward and to help as many people as I can to achieve their goals.  I love sharing with others the journey we have been on over the past few years. The more I share with others the more people I find who are in the same or similar situation that I was in.

I believe one of my biggest goals I have set for myself would be writing my first book. Just a snapshot of my first ten years of marriage. How we started on top, hit the bottom and where we are now. This will be one of the most challenging goals I have set to date.

Do you have advice for a “Newbie” in the MLM industry?

Don’t be afraid to put your potential sponsor in the hot seat. Ask a lot of questions.

  • “How many businesses have you been in over the past year?”
  • “Who will be there to help me when you quit?”
  • “Can you get me on the phone with your mentor/leader?”
  • Take action daily.
  • Develop a daily routine that includes personal development.
  • Talk to your sponsor daily if possible.
  • Stay excited about what you are doing.  If you are not excited, don’t expect anyone else to be.
